Blue is our mascot. He’s a hot headed, fiery little red-headed fellow that is quick to light up and burns brightly – punching out some serious heat long into the night keeping homes warm! Beware – don’t get him wet or he gets grumpy! Although he is a redhead – being Aussie, we call him Blue – as he is fired by Bluegum.
Firewood Solutions provides a variety of firewood but favours Bluegum.
Firewood Solutions harvest our own firewood from supply quality and seasoned firewood harvested from plantation grown and sustainable forests and landholders in South Australia, which is split, seasoned, ready for your home and business fire! Firewood Solutions Bluegum timber has been harvested by us from South Australian land owners that planted this crop in the 1980’s under a government scheme to provide timber for pulp milling purposes. This scheme was abandoned and the timber was never harvested for this purpose. However, now this resource is ideal for use as firewood.
Bluegum as a dry fuel is easier to light and as effective in heat provision and burn time efficiency than Redgum. Firewood Solutions Bluegum is affordable, ready to light, and provides excellent heat and burn rate. It is plantation grown, carbon neutral, sustainable and a more environmentally conscious choice than firewood from native forests. See the comparison table below for more information about how Bluegum compares to other firewood’s. Yes – Bluegum produces excellent heat. Available heat is the measure of the heat given off when wood is burnt and is measured in kilojoules per gram of wood. Bluegum has a higher rating than Redgum. Yes – Bluegum has good burn time. Burn time is measured in density which is the amount of mass the firewood occupies. Bluegum is denser than Redgum.
If Bluegum gets wet it soaks up water quickly and must dry out again to make it effective firewood.
If you do not have a covered area in which to store your firewood, Firewood Solutions is able to provide its Bluegum in bulka bags so that it can be stored anywhere and still remain dry. As it is already cut into a variety of sizes this works well. One bag holds approximately ½ tonne of firewood.
Firewood Solutions Bluegum is sourced from South Australian plantation grown forests. Therefore there are no interstate travel costs, and it is a renewable crop that can be grown again. All of these factors mean that we can keep the price of the firewood lower for the consumer.
Firewood Solutions Bluegum is harvested from plantation grown forests that were planted with the intention of using the timber. After it is harvested, it can be replanted, making it a renewable energy source.
Dry firewood is a relatively environmentally clean fuel. It is low in sulphur emissions and leaves little ash residue when burnt in a conventional firewood heater complying with Australian standards. It can also be argued that because the fuel will be re-grown that the next crop of trees will negate the carbon that is released into the environment on burning the fuel.
